Matte black, with no gloss to bounce an overhead lamp back at you, which is the difference between reading the number and picking the die up. One throw covers any one to three call. Matte resin also takes the white filling better than a polished body, so the number sits flush instead of sitting proud.

Engraved by hand and filled in white, the only pairing that works on a body this dark. A matte finish also hides fingerprints, which a gloss black die collects within about two turns. It doubles as a wound or objective marker in a pinch, and its home is Special and Extra Dice.
